The BAC Library carries a wide array of Bauhaus-related materials. This guide presents a small portion of our collection, as well as some outside resources.
The Bauhaus was a German art school that operated from 1919 to 1933. The Bauhaus was founded in 1919 in the city of Weimar by German architect Walter Gropius (1883–1969). Its core objective was to reimagine the material world to reflect the unity of all the arts by combining crafts with the fine arts. The school became famous for its approach to design, which attempted to unify individual artistic vision with the principles of mass production and emphasis on function.
