Corky Binggeli: Biography

This guide compiles the published work of the late designer and BAC instructor Corky Binggeli.

BAC Faculty Biography

Corky Binggeli ‘08, ASID, is Principal of Corky Binggeli Interior Design in Arlington, Massachusetts. She has been active at the BAC since 1970.

Corky has a Master of Interior Design degree from the BAC and a BA from Barnard College. She is the 2009 recipient of the Alumni in Practice Award for Interior Design from the BAC. She served as the Interior Design Representative to the BAC Board of Trustees from 2009-2011. Currently, she teaches Interior Design Studio 2, and serves as a mentor and thesis reviewer for interior design students at the BAC.

Corky is the author/editor of seven interior design textbooks and reference books, published by John Wiley & Sons. They include Interior Graphic Standards 2nd edition and Student Edition, Interior Design Illustrated with Francis D.K. Ching, Building Systems for Interior Designers, Materials for Interior Environments, Interior Design: A Survey, and Field Guide to Commercial Interiors. Her books have been published in multiple editions and languages.

Corky has been principal of Corky Binggeli Interior Design since 1991. Her firm is known for its people-friendly projects including restaurants, fitness clubs, and salons. Her work received the 1995 Design Excellence Award for Hospitality Design from the New England Chapter of the American Society of Interior Design and Boston Magazine.

Corky is an NCIDQ certified interior designer and ASID Professional member, serving on the Board and as the 2005-2006 president of the ASID New England chapter. She is also an active volunteer with the Arlington Food Pantry, where she orders and helps deliver food for around 400 people each month.
