This guide contains library resources relevant to the Landscape Architecture 1 course, and other resources on the history of Landscape Architecture. This course presents a survey of designed landscapes from prehistoric time until the Eighteenth Century. Readings and lectures will focus on case studies of significant landscapes and their relationship to place as well as contemporary social, cultural and artistic influences. Class discussions will focus on the relevance of historic landscapes to contemporary landscape architecture practice, applications of theory in design and criticism, and issues encountered in landscape history as a discipline. This course is designed for both undergraduate and graduate students with varying requirements for both levels.
