The Prairie School was a North American architectural movement which spanned the late 19th and early 20th centuries and featured horizontal lines, overhanging eaves, and flat roofs. The school was influenced by the English Arts and Crafts movement and emphasized craftsmanship. Prairie School structures were most prominent in the midwestern United States. Some notable architects include Frank Lloyd Wright, William Gray Purcell, George Grant Elmslie, Alfred Caldwell, Marion Mahony Griffin, and Walter Burley Griffin.
