Seaport District: Online Resources

This plan by the Boston Redevelopment Authority, 1990, sets forth the master plan developed by the BRA with the advise of the Fort Point Channel Advisory Committee for this 900 acre site in South Boston; gives district overview, a brief history of this waterfront area, and sets forth goals for a diversified economy, new transportation network, housing, public access/open space and industry/manufacturing, growth policy, urban design guidelines.

This plan by the Boston Redevelopment Authority, 1981, provides supplemental information on a study of truck routes and possible new roads and improvements needed to address seaport access problems in this South Boston waterfront area; includes the identification of certain transportation and bridge improvements to facilitate truck access and evaluates their environmental and traffic impact; this item was in the BRA collection.

The South Boston Waterfront Municipal Harbor Plan is the most expansive and ambitious of the City’s harbor plans including all areas subject to the state’s Waterways Regulations extending from West 4th Street at the end of the Fort Point Channel to Pier 4 along the inner harbor.

Developed by the Boston Planning & Development Agency, the Seaport Square project is a 7,680,010 Million square feet of development consisting of 3.2 million residential, 2.8 million of new office, 476,800 square feet of hotel, a cultural and educational center and 1.12 million square feet of multi-level retail, restaurant and entertainment.
