Course Description: A “Net Zero Energy” home is a home carefully designed to be so efficient that the annual energy needed to operate it can be supplied by annual on-site renewable-energy generation. The purpose of this course is twofold: to help you acquire design and analytical skills to apply to the design, engineering, and construction of net-zero energy homes, and to help you evaluate the viability of “Net Zero Energy” as an attainable or worthwhile goal for building projects. By assessing the potential to be “Net Zero Energy,” you’ll be able to identify opportunities to make buildings more comfortable, healthy, efficient, and durable.
