FIMo is an online database of historical fire insurance maps, real estate atlases and similar land use maps. Maps in the collection include publications by Sanborn, Bromley, and others. This resource is useful for research for urban development patterns, past property uses, property construction (brick, wood, etc.), lot lines, and owners.
The majority of these maps were scanned at high resolution. However, if you find a map that is pixelated, please let us know at library@the-bac.edu and we will contact FIMo’s staff and request a correction. The BAC Library subscribes to maps for Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. This guide will assist you in finding historical maps you may need for site analysis.
