FIMo: Fire Insurance Maps Online : Markup Tools

Instructional guide on how to use FIMo, a collection of high resolution, full-color fire insurance maps in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Connecticut.

Markup Tools

Using the markup tools on the viewer can help to highlight and feature specific areas on the map. You have the option to use line, polygon, rectangle, or marker tools. Keep in mind, the markups you make will only be saved for the current research session.

Rectangle Tool

To use the Rectangle Tool, select the tool that looks like a square and click and drag to draw. There is also a cancel button if you would like to cancel drawing the shape.

Line and Polygon Tools

The Line and Polygon Tools work in a similar way. With the line tool, begin by clicking to start the first point. Continue adding additional points and select the "Finish" button when done. With the Polygon Tool, finish the shape by selecting the first point again.

Marker Tool

To use the Marker Tool, select the tool and then click on the map to place the marker.

Deleting Features

You can delete added lines and shapes using the "Trash" button. Select the button and then select the feature you would like to delete on the page. Make sure to select the "Save" button to confirm the deletion.
